Mycah with daughter Lively in our famous Seasonal Crochet
LE: What does traditional children’s clothing mean to you?
MH: When I was little, my Grannie (whom I adored) would create classic, handmade clothing for me to wear. I still treasure those timeless pieces and the memories of picking out patterns and fabric with her, having her measure me, and the sounds of the sewing machine as she lovingly assembled each one.
LE: Why do you choose to dress your children in these styles?
MH: From smocking and seersucker to eyelet and liberty print, I love dressing Lively in Little English’s quality clothing that celebrates childhood and reminds me of the classic pieces my Grannie used to make for me.

Talk Shop is our way of showing off some of our fabulous boutiques! Little English is sold in some of the most adorable children's boutiques across the country, and we love sharing them with you! If you're in the area, be sure to stop in and say hello! This week, we're talking with Shanlee Johnson from Little Birdies Boutique, an adorable classic children's clothing boutique in Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
As with many of Little English's designs, the smocking on our Reindeer Collection was inspired by a vintage dress worn by the sweet children in our designer Shannon Latham's family. Learn how our mother-daughter design duo freshened this heirloom piece!
